Richmond House B&B
Richmond Hill is one of the older and more historic areas of Port Elizabeth with many fine examples of period architecture. It is currently moving more upmarket as more and more of these fine old buildings are being restored, thus preserving the area's character.
One of these is Richmond House B&B which offers affordable bed and breakfast as well as self catering accommodation right in the heart of Port Elizabeth.
Dating from the late 19th Century and carefully restored, Richmond House with its beautiful wooden floors, doors, windows and staircase evokes the best of the Settlers' heritage. The house offers a view of Algoa Bay and part of the city, including the Port Elizabeth stadium, from the rear balcony as can be seen from the top photo.
The bed and breakfast accommodation has four guest bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. Three have king size beds and the fourth has a double bed. Breakfast is served from the spacious old style kitchen to the dining room with its iron-door fireplace.
At the rear of the old house is a newly-built cottage which has been constructed in a matching style. With an open-plan bedroom, en-suite shower and fully-equipped kitchenette, this cottage is available for self-catering accommodation. It has its own balcony with a partial sea view.
